Three-time New York Times best-selling author and six-time WWE champion Chris Jericho shares 20 of his most valuable lessons for achieving your goals and living the life you want, jam-packed with fantastic stories and the classic off-the-wall, laugh-out-loud Jericho references he's famous for.
Chris Jericho has known what he wanted out of life since he was a teenager: to be a pro wrestler and to be in a rock 'n' roll band. Most of his high school friends felt that he lacked the tools necessary to get into either, but Chris believed in himself. With the wise words of Master Yoda echoing through his head ("Do or do not. There is no try."), he made it happen. As a result, Chris has spent a lifetime doing instead of merely trying, managing to achieve his dreams while learning dozens of invaluable lessons along the way.
No Is a Four-Letter Word distills more than two decades of showbiz wisdom and advice into 20 easy-to-listen-to chapters. From developing a strong work ethic, thanks to WWE chairman Vince McMahon, remembering to always look like a star from Gene Simmons of KISS, learning to let it go when the America's Funniest Home Videos hosting gig goes to his rival, adopting a sense of perpetual reinvention from the late David Bowie, making sure to sell himself like his NHL-legend father Ted Irvine taught him, or going the extra mile to meet Keith Richards (with an assist from Jimmy Fallon), Chris has learned countless lessons during his decades-long career. Now, in the hopes that those same principles might help and inspire his legions of fans, Chris has decided to share them while recounting the fantastic and hilarious stories that led to the birth of these rules. The result is a fun, entertaining, practical, and inspiring audiobook from the man with many scarves but only one drive: to be the best. After listening to No Is a Four-Letter Word, you'll discover that you might have what it takes to succeed as well.... You just need to get out there and do it. That's what Jericho would do.

I purchased this book because I wanted a change of pace from the self-growth books I was reading. Although some may categorize this is another self-growth book I viewed as an autobiography- growth book. I love how each chapter is titled after the lesson Chris Jericho learned. The lessons aren't anything new like "Always have a relentless work ethic", or "Never take no for an answer" but the story that Chris Jericho has behind them is nothing short of spectacular. I wish this book had an audiobook because it would have been amazing to hear Chris narrate his own book. One of the points I wanted Chris to touch on was 1. His time in Mexico and 2. His story/ road to WWE. You will find both of those here and find even more on other wrestlers such as Triple H and even the WWE Chairman himself, Vincent Kennedy Mcmahon.Overall it is an excellent book that any WWE fan will enjoy just like I did. Go ahead and purchase it you won't be disappointed.
I really enjoyed this book. It's different than his last books though I must say. If you into this expecting to read about all sorts of wrestling stories from his last run...you're going to be disappointed. However if you go into this just because you like Chris then you'll be very happy. This is a motivational style book with each chapter based off a positive idea on ways to live life to the fullest. There's many stories in here that are very entertaining, and Chris name drops like no other. While there aren't many wrestling stories in it, the ones that are in it are very fascinating.I'd give this book four stars simply because I like Chris so of course I liked his book. Not to mention he did a great job with this book as he did in the past.
Thoroughly enjoyed this motivational/business/self-improvement book. If you're a Jericho fan, before you "pfft, I don't need a self-help book", note that it is full of great stories from his wrestling and music career. At times I forgot that he was even trying to give advice on how to live a better life because I was so invested into the stories. If you're a Jericho, Wrestling, or music fan, or just want a little kick in the butt, I think you'll enjoy this book.
There really is nothing this man can't do. This book is far different then his normal biography but that's doesn't mean it's not as good. He still tells wrestling and fozzy stories but does in a way that makes you want to get off your lazy but and do something to better your life. Chris has given me so much entertainment for almost all my life and I could never thank him enough for that. Please read this book it's absolutely genius.
I've been familiar with Chris Jericho for nearly 20 years and always enjoy listening to his podcasts and other people interviewing him.So, I was shocked when I quit this book only after about 2-3 chapters.I think it has to do with the ghostwriter's writing style of Jericho's words and personality. It came off as something that was intended for people under 20 years old.
This is the fourth book that Chris Jericho has written and it is just as charming and funny as all the others. It is definitely something that all wrestling and music fan should read. Although, I think everyone will enjoy it. It is definitely the most entertaining self help book I have ever come across.
A good and quick read of life lessons from the Ayatollah of Rock n'Rolla himself, Chris Jericho weaves a decent tome from a combination of stories from his experiences as a musician alongside his failures and successes as a wrestler. In his indomitable style, he sells a concise potion of determination, desire, patience and perseverance- drink it maaaaaan!
Chris Jericho is the greatest wrestler, musical performer, podcast host, author, and human of this generation. He is also the greatest wrestler, musical performer, podcast host, author, and human of any generation.
